Green Party Congressional Candidate Michael Dublin Condemns Unauthorized US-Israel Attack on Iran, Calls for Peace Rooted in Green Party Values
RALEIGH, NC — Today, Michael Dublin, Green Party candidate for US House of Representatives in North Carolina's 2nd District, issued a strong condemnation of the unauthorized military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. The attack, which began on February 28, has already resulted in a devastating loss of civilian life and plunges the region deeper into conflict, directly contradicting the core principles of the Green Party.
"President Trump's decision to launch major combat operations against Iran, without Congressional approval and while negotiations were showing genuine progress, is not only unconstitutional but a profound moral failure. This reckless act of war, carried out in partnership with Israel, has already cost the lives of over 60 children at a girls' school in Minab and two dozen young athletes. This is the brutal reality of a foreign policy driven by empire, not by the values of peace and justice."
— Michael Dublin, Green Party Candidate for Congress, NC-2
Dublin emphasized that this attack stands in opposition to the Four Pillars of the Green Party, which guide his campaign for Congress:
This war represents a complete abandonment of diplomacy. By choosing missiles over negotiations — which were reportedly "within reach" — the U.S. has actively undermined global peace and security, sacrificing innocent lives for geopolitical strategy.
While trillions of dollars are funneled into the military-industrial complex for wars like this one, working families in Raleigh and across the country struggle to afford healthcare, housing, and education. We cannot afford endless war.
Military conflict is an ecological disaster. The bombing of Iranian industrial and nuclear sites risks catastrophic environmental damage that will poison the region for generations, a cost never calculated in the briefings for war.
This war was launched in defiance of the Constitution, which grants Congress, not the President, the sole power to declare war. Both Republican and Democratic leadership have failed to stop this, silencing the will of the American people who overwhelmingly do not want another Middle East war.
"The Green Party is the party of peace, ecological wisdom, grassroots democracy, and social and economic justice. Unlike the two corporate-dominated parties, we refuse to accept war as the first option. We must rise up and demand that Congress be called back into session immediately to pass the War Powers Resolution and cut off funding for this illegal and immoral war."
— Michael Dublin
Dublin is calling on all people of conscience in District 2 and across the nation to join anti-war rallies, flood congressional phone lines, and build a political movement that puts people and planet before profit and war.
Michael Dublin is the Green Party candidate for US House of Representatives in North Carolina's 2nd District, running on a platform based on the Four Pillars of the Green Party: Peace & Non-Violence, Economic Justice, Ecological Wisdom, and Grassroots Democracy.
